Election Day

feminist-buttonsI’ve really said all I have to say on the matter. I’ve laid out my reasons and outlined my voting strategy. I’ve challenged you to confront your own convictions (even as I challenged my own), to learn about history, and have offered you as much credible information as I could find. (I promised you I would when I started this blog.) I have made my choice and I stand by it, willing and able to live with the consequences. Tomorrow is the day of reckoning.

For my money, the best two posts of this entire year have been Dr. Violet Sock’s groundbreaking essay Archimedes Lever, and madamab’s excellent reportage on Representative Carolyn Maloney’s paradigm-shifting book Rumors of Our Progress Have Been Greatly Exaggerated. These two posts more than anything, I think, have contributed to a kind of awakening among some women, and it is now our task to make sure that wave grows.

So if, amazingly, you are still one of the 9% of undecided voters this election eve, you might spend some time perusing those links.

Yes, madamab’s post really made me stop and think. And so when I filled out my Oregon mail-in ballot last week, I went through and found every last woman on it and voted for them, starting with Sarah Palin at the top. It felt great, and it’s something I’m going to do in the future. Instead of being a yellow dog dem, I’ll be a yellow dog feminist.

    Ditto CD.

Anna Belle, thanks for everything you’ve done. Your blog is a regular stop for me and come what may tonight, we’ve all got to stay together.
